Rethinking Asthma Control: Implementing the New Guidelines
Program available: May 2007—November 2008
Welcome to a new, integrated educational program: Rethinking Asthma Control: Implementing the New Guidelines. The program steering committee, composed of key opinion leaders in asthma management, designed this innovative curriculum to provide allergists and pulmonologists with timely information on the diagnosis and assessment of asthma and the latest advances in its management, referencing the 2007 guidelines issued by the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program. Components include CME-certified webinars and online monographs on the following topics: Asthma: Disease Characterization, Implementing the New Guidelines for Asthma Management in Adults, and Understanding and Managing Asthma in Special Populations. E-bulletins on a variety of asthma-related subjects are also available.
Optimizing Interventional Pharmacology for PCI in ACS:
Applying the Evidence to Real-World Settings
Webinar available June 8, 2007 - June 8, 2008
Recorded during the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) 30th Annual Scientific Sessions in Orlando, Florida, this highly dynamic, case-based symposium provides interventional cardiologists and other clinicians with detailed information and lively discussion on pharmacoinvasive therapies to improve the outcomes of patients undergoing PCI. The faculty will address patient management challenges presented by differing organizational protocols and discuss options for the interventional clinician. Using an innovative case-based approach, participants will consider the implications of various factors, including initial clinical presentation of ACS, the facility's capability to perform PCI, time delays from symptom onset to reperfusion, and the risk of adverse outcomes.
The Road to Rhythm Control in Atrial Fibrillation: Mapping Current and Emerging Pharmacotherapies
Webinar available May 2007 - May 31, 2008
This symposium is designed to help you improve your knowledge of AF and its treatment. You will consider both current and future pharmacotherapies for attaining normal sinus rhythm in AF. You will review the latest AF prevalence projections and evaluate recent clinical trial data, in light of updated practice guidelines. You will examine the pharmacological differences, efficacy, and safety of antiarrhythmic pharmacotherapies in development, as well as their potential role in AF treatment.
Asthma: Disease Characterization
Webinar available May 8, 2007 - May 8, 2008
As the first webinar in a 3-part series, this presentation will explore some of the many challenges of asthma—how to diagnose it, why it's important to understand the nature of its progression, and how to identify which of our patients are most at risk. We will also address the latest recommendations for classifying our asthma patients and discuss some of the tools for assessing asthma, both current ones and those in development.
Improving Management of High-Risk Cardiovascular Patients
Webinar available July 17, 2006 - July 17, 2007
In this webinar, faculty will discuss the importance of hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, and atherosclerosis as risk factors for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality; review studies comparing selective and nonselective beta blockers, angiotensin receptor blockers, and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors in the treatment of hypertension and heart failure; identify appropriate evidence-based risk reduction strategies for high-risk patient groups, particularly for patients with multiple risk factors; and identify clinical features associated with heart failure in the setting of preserved systolic dysfunction.

Recent Advances in the Management of Fluid Overload in Acute Heart Failure Syndromes
June 11, 2007
Hamburg, Germany
In this satellite symposium, the faculty will present the most recent information and clinical data regarding strategies to manage fluid overload and improve outcomes in patients with HF. Program attendees will learn the importance of maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance in HF patients, as well as the clinical applications of current and novel methods for fluid management in this vulnerable patient population.
