Alan Gradman, MD, is presently Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital and Professor of Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Gradman received his bachelor's degree in zoology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Following his internship and residency at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Dr. Gradman completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cardiology at Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, California. After his training, he spent 13 years on the faculty at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Gradman is an active investigator in the areas of hypertension and congestive heart failure. He is the editor of Drug Interactions in Cardiology, co-author of The RAS, Hypertension and Angiotensin Receptor Blockers, and author of more than 100 articles and abstracts in journals dealing with various aspects of clinical cardiology and cardiovascular pharmacotherapy. He is also a manuscript reviewer for several major medical journals, including Circulation and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Gradman was formerly the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Governor for Western Pennsylvania. He holds memberships in the American Heart Association and the American Society of Hypertension. Dr. Gradman has won several honors over the years, including the Angier B. Duke Scholar, fellowships in the ACC and American College of Chest Physicians, and was recently named Specialist in Clinical Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension.
