Brent Egan, MD, is Professor of Pharmacology and Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Egan is active in hypertension research, including the links to obesity and insulin resistance, and has studied racial disparities in cardiovascular disease. He currently serves as a principal investigator on the VALUE (VAlsartan Long-term Use Evaluation) Trial and the TROPHY (TRial Of Preventing HYpertension) Study.
Dr. Egan is board-certified in internal medicine and is certified by the American Society of Hypertension as specialist in clinical hypertension. A frequent lecturer on cardiovascular disease, Dr. Egan has also published extensively in this area. In addition, he serves as an editor for Hypertension Index and Reviews, the Journal of Human Hypertension, Hypertension, Ethnicity & Disease, and the American Journal of Hypertension.
Dr. Egan received his medical degree from The University of Michigan, where he also completed his residency and fellowship in hypertension.
