Michael S. Blaiss, MD, earned his Bachelor of Science degree magna cum laude from the University of Georgia in Athens, and his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis. He completed his residency at the University of Tennessee/LeBonheur Children's Medical Center, and earned a fellowship in allergy/immunology from Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is currently Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis.
Dr. Blaiss is an avid researcher, having presented over 300 abstracts and presentations. His research interests include anaphylaxis, allergic rhinitis, and asthma therapy. He has served on the editorial boards for such journals as Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology; Journal of Asthma; and Allergy and Clinical Immunology International. He is treasurer for the American Board of Allergy and Clinical Immunology; president of Le Bonheur Pediatric Specialties, Inc.; and president-elect of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI).
Dr. Blaiss is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology and has served on the boards of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy & Immunology. In 1996 he was named Distinguished Fellow in the ACAAI, and was awarded a Jaros Lectureship from the ACAAI in 1998.
