INNOVIA Receives Four-Year ACCME Reaccreditation
Friday, August 31st 2007
INNOVIA Education Institute, LLC, has earned a four-year, full reaccreditation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the governing body that evaluates the continuing medical education programs of institutions and organizations. By receiving reaccreditation, INNOVIA can continue to provide a wide range of educational and informational resources that support the professional development needs of physicians and other health care providers.
In addition, INNOVIA was awarded exemplary status in three elements spanning all three of ACCME’s Essential Areas—Purpose and Mission (Element 1.2), Educational Planning and Evaluation (Element 2.2), and Administration (Element 3.1). ACCME accreditation assures health care practitioners, the public, and the CME community that INNOVIA’s educational activities have met the rigorous standards of ACCME Essential Areas, Elements, and Policies.
“These findings reflect our hard work and dedication to providing high-quality, evidence-based, independent education that is designed to promote learning and improvement in clinical practice,” said Eve Wilson, Director of CME Services at INNOVIA.
The firm was first accredited by ACCME in 2001 and received a four-year reaccreditation in 2003.
Sarah Mooney, Director of Strategic Planning and Development, added: “This latest reaccreditation decision shows considerable confidence in our CME enterprise and highlights our commitment to continuous improvement. We are already looking ahead toward meeting new ACCME standards by making modifications to our internal CME process.”
ACCME accreditation is based on standards adopted by its seven member organizations: the American Board of Medical Specialties; the American Hospital Association; the American Medical Association; the Association for Hospital Medical Education; the Association of American Medical Colleges; the Council of Medical Specialty Societies; and the Federation of State Medical Boards of the U.S., Inc.
INNOVIA is dedicated to independent, science-based communications for health care product manufacturers and quality professional education with the goal of providing information to health care providers that ultimately improves patient care. INNOVIA creates, markets, implements, and certifies CME programs in multiple disease states and in a range of media. INNOVIA is a subsidiary of Columbia MedCom Group, an employee-owned medical communications company headquartered in Columbia, Maryland.
